Measured Verification After Mechanical Overhaul - From Individual Pumps to Large Multi-Cylinder Systems
A mechanical injection pump is not finished when the last component has been installed. After overhaul, the pump must demonstrate repeatable mechanical function and fuel delivery under defined test conditions. Our workshop therefore combines mechanical rebuilding with test-bench verification appropriate to the pump design and engine application.
Our marine service is not limited to one pump manufacturer or one engine family. Depending on pump design, condition, technical documentation, spare-parts availability and suitable test-bench adaptation, we assess, overhaul, repair and calibrate mechanical fuel injection pumps from Bosch, LÓrange (also searched as L'Orange), Kugelfischer and other manufacturers. We accept enquiries for mechanical fuel-injection equipment used on all categories of marine engines operating either at fixed speed or across a variable speed range, including main propulsion, auxiliary, generator and other shipboard duties. Common Rail systems are not part of this service scope.
Bosch EPS Test-Bench Calibration
Suitable Bosch mechanical pumps can be tested and calibrated on Bosch EPS equipment. Depending on pump type, technical data and application, the test scope may include fuel-delivery measurement, cylinder-to-cylinder comparison, leakage assessment, control-rack movement, shut-off function, low-speed and rated-speed points, and repeatability checks.
Dedicated Equipment for Large Injection Pumps
Large marine and industrial pumps can exceed the physical or functional range of conventional diesel test benches. For such applications we operate specialised equipment capable of direct volumetric comparison using graduated measuring glasses. This allows us to assess large individual inline pumps and, where mechanically suitable, coupled pump systems serving engines with up to 16 cylinders.
Variable-Speed Main Engines
For a variable-speed propulsion engine, a single test point may not describe the complete operating requirement. Where verified data are available, the pump can be evaluated at several relevant pump speeds and control positions so that delivery behaviour is considered across the operating range rather than only at one nominal point.
Fixed-Speed Auxiliary and Generator Engines
For fixed-speed engines, the rated operating point and stable repeatability around that point can be particularly important. Depending on the pump and governing arrangement, additional points may be required to understand starting, load acceptance or shut-off behaviour. The exact test plan is therefore linked to the real engine duty.
Bosch, LÓrange, Kugelfischer and Other Pump Manufacturers
The available test method depends on the pump construction. Bosch pumps may have documented EPS procedures, while LÓrange, Kugelfischer and other historical mechanical systems can require different fixtures, drive arrangements and data sources. We therefore confirm test-bench suitability before accepting a pump. No calibration value is transferred from a visually similar pump without technical verification.
Technical Data Used for Calibration

- historical acceptance or commissioning data
- documented workshop or fleet records where technically credible
- clearly agreed customer-specific target values when appropriate
A pump designation alone is not sufficient. Externally similar pumps may contain different pumping elements, camshafts, delivery valves, control components, speed ranges and application-specific settings.
What the Final Workshop Documentation May Contain
Depending on the agreed work scope and the available measurement setup, final documentation can include component identification, work performed, important findings, replaced parts, test conditions and recorded delivery values. This is workshop documentation of the performed repair and calibration work; it should not be confused with an OEM approval or third-party certification unless such a document has been explicitly provided by the relevant organisation.
Test-Bench Adjustment Is Not a Substitute for Mechanical Repair
A worn pump cannot be made permanently correct simply by adjusting screws on a test bench. Excessive wear, damaged control sleeves, weak delivery valves, worn tappets, corrosion or incorrect internal components must be addressed mechanically before meaningful calibration is possible.

- clear photographs of the complete injection equipment and all identification plates
- pump manufacturer, complete pump type and all visible part or reference numbers
- engine manufacturer and exact engine designation
- number of cylinders, rated power and rated speed
- whether the engine operates at fixed speed or over a variable speed range
- marine application: main propulsion, auxiliary engine, generator set or other duty
- direction of rotation, if known
- description of the fault, operating symptoms and previous repair history
- available test sheets, engine acceptance data, manuals or calibration information
- desired test documentation or customer reporting requirements
- whether the pump is to be tested individually or as part of a tandem system
